The Committee of Management of the Cambridge Centre for Criminal Justice (CCCJ) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Jonathan Rogers as Co-Deputy Director of the Centre.

Dr Rogers joined the Faculty of Law as Lecturer in Criminal Justice at Cambridge on 1 October 2018. He was previously at UCL where he was an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice, and also served as the Deputy Director and then Director of the Centre for Criminal Law. His particular areas of interest are in prosecutorial discretion, abuse of process and human rights obligations as they affect substantive and procedural law, but he has written widely on other subjects and reviews articles as a member of the Editorial Board of the Criminal Law Review. He also co-directs a network of academics and practitioners, Criminal law Reform Now, which has received AHRC funding and is currently working on possible reforms to the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and to the law on private prosecutions.

Commenting on his account, Dr Rogers said: “I am delighted to join the CCCJ. My experience in London is that practitioners and the judiciary are very keen to engage with academics on aspects of criminal justice that have the potential directly to affect their work. But it was already fun and enlightening for us too. I look forward to facilitating further events at Cambridge which will inspire interest from both practitioners and academics from other institutions”.

Professor Nicola Padfield, Director of the CCCJ, said: "We are really pleased that Jonathan has joined us, and I’m convinced that his perspectives will bring new insights and energies to our Centre."
